Foresight Sports Unveils LINK-Enabled Technology: Best Club Recommendation Feature Yet?
First-Ever Marriage Between Launch Monitor Data and Rangefinder Readouts + Foresight GC3 and Bushnell Launch Pro Product Line Updates
Foresight Sports and Bushnell Golf, sister companies and both golf tech heavyweights, are introducing LINK-Enabled Technology—an innovation that gives users launch monitor information in their rangefinder display to create the most accurate plays-like distance feature we’ve yet seen.
With the new technology comes updates to the Foresight GC3 and Bushnell Launch Pro product lines, features, and pricing. Teaser: new GC3s come with a Bushnell laser. Read on.
Also, every existing Foresight and Bushnell launch monitor and all existing Bushnell Pro X3 and Pro X3+ rangefinders will be compatible with LINK-Enabled Technology.
How It Works: A Tour-Caliber Caddie in Your Pocket
The LINK-Enabled system begins with Foresight Sports’ new “MyBag” assessment, conducted via their updated app and paired with ANY Foresight or Bushnell golf launch monitor (previously purchases models included). Players hit a minimum of three shots with each club, generating data on carry distances, dispersion patterns, and performance tendencies.
This information is then synced with the updated Bushnell Golf app, which communicates directly with ANY Bluetooth-enabled Bushnell Golf rangefinder. For now, that’s the Pro X3 and Pro X3+ models.
So, if you already own a Foresight Sports golf launch monitor or the Bushnell Launch Pro and a Bushnell Pro X3 or Pro X3+, you’re in Link-Enabled business.
On the course, you’ll simply pair your rangefinder with the updated Bushnell Golf app. Then, for each shot, when you look into the rangefinder reticle, you’ll get two club recommendations, a conservative and aggressive option.
These recommendations are not only customized to your specific golf launch monitor data, they also account for environmental variables like slope, wind, and temperatures, ensuring the most accurate and personalized “Play As” distances possible.
Beyond the club recommendations, LINK-Enabled offers features like personalized dispersion patterns overlaid on hole maps within the Bushnell Golf app. It’s real-time feedback that transforms raw data into actionable insights for better decision making. Very similar, actually, to the kind of information caddies would be relaying to tour players.
“Everyone who’s used a laser rangefinder knows how to get a number, but they don’t always know how to use that information because that data has not been tailored to their actual performance,” Chris Watters, Head of Commercial, Foresight Sports and Bushnell Golf said in the announcement. “LINK-Enabled Technology takes guesswork and bravado out of choosing a club, building confidence by transforming a ranged distance into a club recommendation.”
Expanding Access: Foresight and Bushnell Product Line Updates
In addition to LINK-Enabled Technology, Foresight Sports and Bushnell Golf announced updates to their personal launch monitor product lines, including options that come with a Bushnell Pro X3 LINK laser rangefinder. It’s the same rangefinder as the previous Pro X3, just badged differently.
Here’s what’s changing:
- Foresight GC3: The cosmetically refreshed GC3 will now be available only as a ball-and-club-enabled golf launch monitor. One SKU. One price. Everything included right out of the box, including the FSX simulator software, a sling bag, a two-year warranty and one year of access to GSPro. Simple for everyone to understand. Plus the GC3 now comes with a Bushnell Pro X3 LINK included. New GC3 retail price = $6,999.
- Foresight GC3S: The new GC3S is Foresight’s first-ever subscription model (hence the “S”) launch monitor. Same functionality as the GC3 and with both ball and club data included, but with a lower entry price and a $499-per-year subscription (first year is free) for all the functionality and FSX software. Think of the GC3S kind of as what used to be the Bushnell Launch Pro. Except for the GC3S comes with a Bushnell Pro X3 LINK rangefinder and all the ball and club data (no ball-data-only option) plus one year of access to GSPro. GC3S retail price = $3,799.
- Bushnell LPi: The “i” stands for “indoors,” where this new Launch Pro golf launch monitor is intended to be used. Unlike the other GLMs in the Foresight/Bushnell family, the new LPi does not include a built-in display. It also won’t include a battery. So, it’s an indoor-only unit that offers a savings opportunity for golfers in that use-case scenario. The LPi comes with ball and club data, but after the free first year, the Gold subscription package to unlock the FSX software costs $499 per year. LPi retail price = $2,799.
Reimagining Your On-Course Data Experience
LINK-Enabled isn’t the first club recommendation feature. We’ve seen it applied very effectively in various iterations with products from companies like Arccos, Garmin, Shot Scope, and Bushnell.
But this is the first feature that gives us our actual launch monitor data combined with all the real-time elements like slope and weather. In that sense, LINK-Enabled is the accurate and personalized plays-like distance feature we’ve seen yet.
And for that reason, it’s quite exciting. Especially if you already own the tools you’ll need to take advantage. Or, possibly, if you were shopping for them.
On top of that, the news means opportunities to get remaining GC3 and Launch Pro products while they last if you prefer those options.
